Seeking Motivated Student Research Intern

Position Description/Responsibilities: Dr. Melanie Jay, MD, MS, Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at NYU School of Medicine is seeking a bright, motivated student intern interested in pursuing a career in healthcare to assist her in a research project to be conducted at Gouverneur Healthcare Services in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The position will primarily involve assisting the coordination of focus groups exploring goal-setting in weight management in Hispanic patients. Applicants must have good interpersonal, writing, and computer skills and have a strong knowledge of Spanish.

Time commitment: Part time, 10-15 hours required per week. Applicants must be able to commit to one year, including availability during the summer. The position will begin ASAP.

Compensation: While this is an unpaid internship (***Please note there is an unpaid internship scholarship available through NYU***), Dr. Jay will offer mentorship and a letter of recommendation. Future paid opportunities will also be explored during and at the close of the project, but funding is not currently guaranteed.
