Paid Position: Medical Terminology Tutor

The Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center [BEOC]

The Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center [BEOC] provides academic studies programs including college preparation, ESL and GED and business and vocational programs, including allied health programs.

Tutors will help students prepare for mid-term and final examinations. Tutors must have a solid background in medical science subjects.

They will provide individual and group tutoring and workshops. Tutors will assist students with general Library duties when needed, including helping students with Word, Excel, Email and Internet searches. Assist in development of specialized workshops.

Requirements:
Familiar with anatomy and physiology; Working knowledge of Medical Terminology and ICD-9; Nursing or Medical Major preferred; Minimum 1 year tutoring experience
Bachelor’s degree preferable; Interest in helping students; Office, communication and personal computer skills; Familiarity with a library or student learning center helpful

The position is for 5 - 18 hours/$10.00 – $18.00 per hour depending on education and experience. The Library/Learning Resource Center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
