Volunteers for Ecological & Humanitarian Projects
Israel, South Africa, Kenya, Nepal, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Portugal and Thailand

Description: GoEco presents an exciting travel concept for people who are eager to travel and to contribute at the same time to the welfare of the local population and ecosystem they visit. You will visit amazing sites around the world, where you will be able to join, with other like-minded people, nature conservation and humanitarian projects supported by local communities.
Eligibility: Volunteer projects usually require the following minimum requirements: Age 18 and above (for most projects); Reasonable standard of English; Good physical condition; Flexibility to live in a different environment with changes in diet, living conditions, weather and with people from all over the world, etc; Meet the basic conditions listed in the Project Registration Form You should know that there are also projects that accept families with children.
Duration: Certain projects have strict date requirements, but many projects are quite flexible and often can accommodate your timetable. We therefore suggest that you read as much as possible about the country that you are going to and ask for guidance from the GoEco team and the project managers.

Zoological Society of Philadelphia, PA at Philadelphia Zoo

Our career internship program is one of the many ways the Philadelphia Zoo demonstrates a commitment to its mission of conservation, education, science and recreation. Through our internships, we provide practical, high-quality experiences that help you achieve your academic and professional goals. Recent college graduates and career changers are encouraged to apply. Please note that all internships are unpaid and the Zoo does not provide housing.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, we do not have application deadlines for our internships. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and positions are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To apply, please submit a completed intern application, letter of interest stating which internship(s) you are applying for and why, resume, letter of recommendation and copy of your college transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable).  All interns are required to submit a cleared PA State Criminal Background Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance prior to beginning work at the Philadelphia Zoo. Bronx Zoo

Description: The Education Department of the Bronx Zoo offers summer internships for fall internships to qualified college students, recent graduates. Summer interns are expected to work 30-35 hours per week. Summer applicants should be outstanding 3rd and 4th year undergraduates.
 
Eligibility: Experience in teaching is highly desirable, interest in wildlife and the ability to relate to children are essential. Applicants should be 3rd and 4th year undergraduates in good standing. Minority students are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should possess a strong background in one or more of these areas:

Environmental Education
Natural History
Zoology
Ecology
Biology

Spring and fall interns team teach in our school programs for elementary school children. Summer interns work in the Zoo's camp programs or with the Girls for Planet Earth Summit.

Duration: full summer (approx. 10 weeks)
