Orthopaedic Spine Research Fellowship

At the Division of Spine Surgery, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases

Research candidate may apply for a one or two year research fellowship in the Division of Spine Surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases.

This research experience is for postgraduates who are considering a career in orthopaedics; for medical students or college graduates who are contemplating application to medical school. The research year can be after college, between 2nd & 3rd years, 3rd & 4th years, or post-doctoral.

Researchers gain experience in basic, clinical or translational research under the direction of spine faculty in the Division of Spine Surgery at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases (NYUHJD). Researchers attain a familiarity and understanding of the research process from protocol to publication developing a wide range of skills applicable to medical innovation and practice. Research related spine topics include the practical experiences of spine faculty at NYU HJD as well as national databases which individual faculty members participate. This is an active and productive research program with presentations at national and international meetings. The division of spine surgery had 30 peer reviewed publications in 2011. This is therefore a fertile ground for a research candidate.
