Summer Internship Opportunity @ University of Cincinnati College of Medicine

University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Summer Experiential Programs

Every year the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine offers two summer experiential programs for academically talented undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine:

  1. Summer Surgery Experience (SSE; June 18-29, 2012) and
  2. Summer Neuroscience Experience (SNE; July 23-August 3, 2012).

These fast paced programs each include lab practica, operating room observations, shadowing with faculty, case studies, and presentations from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine faculty. The application for both programs will be available online from January 9, 2012 to March 1, 2012. Applicants must complete the online application and submit a single packet of supplementary materials including two letters of recommendation, official college transcripts, and other official forms by March 1, 2012.

Eligibility requirements: There are no course prerequisites, but students must have a 3.4 cumulative GPA, and most competitive applicants have a strong foundation in upper-level sciences. Many students have completed at least one year of organic chemistry (including lab) and courses in advanced biology, college calculus, and anatomy. Additionally, competitive applicants have demonstrated their interest in the medical professions through medically-related extracurricular activities. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have completed one year of college by the first day of the program. Preference is given to rising juniors and seniors.
