Research Opportunity: Full-time Research Assistant Position @ NYU Med

NYU Medical Center Research Assistant Position
Seeking Graduate Applicants


A large multidisciplinary research team, with a focus on evaluating behavioral interventions to improve health, has a full-time research position available. We are looking for a highly intelligent, responsible, organized, academically oriented college graduate who is interested in devoting at least a year to research before going on to pursue a career in medicine, psychology, public health, or a similar field.

The research assistant will assist in recruitment, data collection, data management, and data entry in extramurally funded research studies evaluating different behavioral approaches to improve treatment management for patients with heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, or stroke. The American Diabetes Association study (TACTICS) and the American Heart Association study (PREVENTS) are in their fourth year, while the federally-funded study VALOR in Heart Failure, is in its second year. In addition, a new federally-funded study, VIP in Heart Failure, and an NIH study for patients with hypertension, an Enhanced Medication Monitoring Program, began recently. The research assistant will also participate in organization of study materials, administrative duties, and literature searches. The individual will have primary responsibility in patient recruitment and follow-up, and will conduct patient intakes and evaluations. As part of the position, the research assistants will be involved in key academic deliberations involving a multidisciplinary group that includes individuals with expertise in medicine, psychology, epidemiology, statistics, health education, economics, etc. Depending on the research assistant’s performance, he/she will be eligible for publication and presentation opportunities.

We are looking for someone who would be available to start immediately. This is a paid position (full-time $42,028) and affords excellent opportunities for those planning on applying to PhD programs or medical school. The RA will be joining 5 other full-time research assistants.
