The Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons Office of Diversity—STAT Program (Strategic Testing Application Techniques for Successful Entry to Medical School) is now accepting students for their spring semester program.
The program is a FREE, intense four month, weekend academic enrichment boot camp to improve students’ application chances to medical school—STAT! STAT students will receive rigorous test preparation for the MCAT, in addition to strategies for application to medical school. Contact with medical students and faculty as well as individual mentoring by the Office of Diversity are stressed. The program will run from February until the end of May on the campus of the Columbia University Medical Center.
STAT will serve up to 25 pre-medical junior, senior and or post-baccalaureate students from underrepresented, disadvantaged, low-income communities, who have been historically underrepresented in medicine. Eligible students will be US citizens or permanent residents; have an overall GPA of 3.0, with 2.75 in the sciences and enrolled in or graduated from an accredited NYC college or University.
The deadline for submitting completed applications is January 23, 2012.
