Spring Break Trip to Nicaragua!

Volunteer in Nicaragua (March 29(or 30th)-April 8) with the non-profit organization, FRIENDS NEW ENGLAND (FNE), with Mike Cipoletti.

For those of you looking to have a global public health and community development experience but have a budget constrain, this is the trip for You!

Trip details:
  • Air fare (between $500-700) and should be purchased as soon as possible because prices are going up!
  • $350 for expenses (100 dollar deposit checks need to be written to FriendsNE and sent to 1 Torpie St. Boston, MA 02120 ASAP)
The $350 will include:
  • lodging
  • meals
  • potable water
  • transportation
  • most activities (volcano climbing, beach visit etc (ALL to be decided shortly)

Public health related events:
  • Will incorporate service (building a family a home and community activities and events)
  • Public health related programming (dictated by group wants and needs: i.e.small public health lectures, networking, research opportunities, community development projects, etc)
  • Culture, History and FUN.
  • This trip will be done in conjunction with a small group from Binghamton (undergrads.)

Fundraising requirements: As a group, when it has been decided who is attending, we will have to fundraise money that will go to:
  • $1800 dollars builds a house.
  • Scholarships: given to high school students, and elementary school students
  • Micro-finance Women's Initiative (currently under development)
  • A large library being built in Chacraseca.
