WHAT: A walkthrough with the artists for Seeing Ourselves, followed by a roundtable discussion about the show on Saturday, March 31 at 2:30 PM.

Seeing Ourselves is a "rare, interdisciplinary"(-Huffington Post) medical diagnostic imaging-based exhibition at the MUSE Center of Photography and the Moving Image (580 Eighth Ave. between 38th & 39th St., 7th Floor). The show includes works by 60 artists and scientists, curated by physicians Kóan Jeff Baysa, MD, and Caitlin Hardy, MD, with works that explore the ramifications of neuroimaging in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and neuroaesthetics.

The Medical Mirror, an interactive installation featured in the Seeing Ourselves exhibition, reveals an anatomical reflection of your body in real time and space using custom-created software and Microsoft's Kinect technology. You will see a digital 3-D representation of your brain and nervous system looking back at you as you move and spin around the room. This proof-of-concept work of art is the next step towards a new form of portraiture that visualizes people's health data in the past, present, and future.

WHY: To view and discuss beautiful expression of the human form which provides effective, connected communication and education about the body in medicine and healthcare, with modalities such as Medical Avatar (on iPad app, in development) which can do this.

WHEN: Saturday, March 31 at 2:30 PM.

WHERE: MUSE Center of Photography and the Moving Image
580 Eighth Ave. between 38th & 39th St.
7th Floor
