The Prehealth Advisory Board presents “Survive and Thrive,” a workshop led by your peers to help you succeed as a prehealth student at NYU. We’ll provide our experiences in navigating through research and volunteer opportunities, coping with stress, preparing for the MCAT, developing strategies for prehealth courses, and writing your AMCAS application. STEM careers — those that focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics — require special skills, and many of the workers in these fields are highly skilled in their areas.

In the new edition of his book “150 Best Jobs for Your Skills,” Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D., says that STEM careers include “work that discovers, collects and analyzes information about the natural world; applies scientific research findings to problems in medicine, the life sciences, human behavior and the natural sciences; imagines and manipulates quantitative data; and applies technology to manufacturing, transportation and other economic activities.”

Research Position at Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center

Assist in anxiety and psychophysiology studies. Responsibilities include assisting the Principal investigator with the operation of her psychophysiology studies, helping screen research participants and preparing reports. BA in Psychology, Biology, Pre-Med or Related Area.  BS in Neuropsychology or Psychophysiology experience preferred.

Student National Dental Association's Spring Impressions Program at Columbia University

I would like to extend an invitation for this year’s Student National Dental Association’s (SNDA) Spring Impressions Program to be held at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Enjoy an interactive day with an admissions committee member and a panel of dental students. Make sure you’re on the right path that will lead you towards a career in dentistry. 

Participants will be given the opportunity to use dental instruments and materials in a lab setting. This opportunity will allow you to gain insight into the hands-on work available in the field of dentistry.  Go home with a stone cast that you poured during the impressions program.
