Exploring Health Careers: Student Perspective Series


The Preprofessional Advising Center invites all undergraduate prehealth students to an event designed for you to hear from current students and recent graduates of professional programs in a variety of health-related disciplines. We understand that some of the most trusted advice is peer-to-peer, and we are excited to present this element to you!

Speakers will talk about their educational background, the application process for their professional program, and current educational experience. Q&A and refreshments to follow!

Academic Skills Workshop – Finals Prep!
Finals are quickly approaching. Are you ready? Prepare for final exams and papers with the help of students who have been through it before! You’ll hear about ways to manage your time and effectively prioritize your study load from the ULC’s Academic Coaches and Learning Assistants. Our goal is to have you leave this workshop with your own study plan for finals in place.

This workshop will be offered twice; 60 – 75 minutes. NO RSVP required.

Writing a Final Paper: Analyzing the Text to Develop Your Thesis

Are you stuck on your final paper? Having a hard time developing a thesis or confused about analyzing the literature? This workshop is designed for students in literature-based courses (English, Texts & Ideas) who need to practice close reading skills to formally analyze a text to write a paper. You can apply the skills you learn to the text you’re working with in order to develop your own thesis to write your final paper.

MAPSS Event: TODAY!!!

The Minority Association of Pre-Med and Science Students Presents:

Title: On the Shoulders of Giants: A Student's Story of the Path to Medical School and All of the Important Stops on the Way
With Special Guest Speaker Utibe Essien, NYU Alumnus and Third Year Student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine

"On the Shoulders of Giants" is a meeting dedicated to welcoming back Utibe Essien, NYU MAPSS Alum and Third Year Student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Utibe will share the story of his path to medical school from freshman year at NYU to his fourth year at Albert Einstein. He'll speak on the resources, internships, shadowing opportunities, and strategies that helped him the most. He'll also speak on the role MAPSS (formerly the BSSO) played in his life while he was an Undergrad at NYU. As we set out to reinvigorate MAPSS in the future, Utibe will share his knowledge on what objectives we should hold on to and what new goals we should adopt. With his knowledge, everyone in attendance will undoubtedly go on to do GREAT THINGS. Be sure to attend!

NYU: Reaching Out program

The NYU: Reaching Out program seeks to expose students to higher education and empower them to become confident, college-bound young women. The program consists of monthly workshops--past workshop topics include "Identity," "Researching Our College Option," and "What is Beauty?: Self-Esteem." We have been connecting students to NYU faculty, students from different colleges and motivational speakers.
